Laboratory Sample Coordinator

St. Paul, MN


Provides operational support for Sample Preparation/Sample Receipt activities, including but not limited to media preparation, cleaning, equipment/materials staging, and use of aseptic technique.



  • Receives incoming samples and reviews them for integrity to ensure they are sufficient for testing.
  • Coordinates time and resources to ensure efficient processing of incoming projects.
  • Review projects to ensure paperwork is complete and accurate.
  • Serves as client point of contact for clarification and questions that arise.
  • Initiates and maintains chain of custody of samples.
  • Works on routine assignments per written procedures, where ability to recognize deviation from accepted practice is required.
  • Normally receives minimal instructions on routine work and detailed instructions on new assignments.
  • Works under close supervision from supervisor or senior personnel.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and independently as required.
  • Contributes to the overall operations and to the achievement of departmental goals.
  • Performs job-specific tasks in compliance with applicable Regulations, International Standards, and Company Policies and Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Thorough understanding of Good Laboratory Practices and Good Manufacturing Practices.
  • May be required to assist in other departments as needed.
  • May be required to work holidays and weekends.
  • May be required to work overtime.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Experience / Education

  • Associate’s Degree or equivalent Bioscience experience
  • One year experience in a laboratory environment, preferably GLP/GMP, preferred

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities:

  • Proficient oral and written communication skills
  • Need to be able to clearly speak, read, write and understand English
  • Proficient in Microsoft (e.g. Excel, Word, Outlook)
  • Knowledge of general research laboratory procedures, aseptic technique, and GLP/GMP regulations

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to work in a lab setting with exposure to animals, biohazards, and chemicals
  • Must be able to wear appropriate PPE
  • Must be able to work in environment with variable noise levels
  • Ability to stand, sit, and walk for long periods of time
  • Ability to crouch, bend, twist and reach
  • Ability to push/pull 50 lbs. occasionally
  • Clarity of vision
  • Ability to identify and distinguish colors
  • Must be able to perform activities with repetitive motions and good manual dexterity
  • Ability to work in variable temperatures high to freezing


Sunday-Thursday or Tuesday-Saturday, 6:00am-2:30pm

Education Required: 

  • Associate’s Degree or equivalent Bioscience experience
  • Bachelor's Degree preferred
